This candy corn craft is easy make. I’ve included templates to download and also included another template for more Halloween candy if you’re wanting to make more candy. If each child made their own piece(s) of candy, you could write their name on it and use for Halloween door decoration or bulletin board displays, maybe with a giant jack-o-lantern (like kids use to put their candy in when they go trick-or-treating).
Materials Needed:
Rounded Corner Punch
white, yellow and orange cardstock or construction paper
school glue or glue stick
paper cutter (optional)
scissors and pencil
- Download the template here. Print template 3 times — on yellow, orange and white paper. Cut out all circles. You can do different combinations of the colors if you like. I just made the “standard” with yellow on the bottom, orange for the middle circle and white for the smallest circle.
2. Glue the orange circle onto the center of the yellow circle, followed by the white circle in the center of the orange circle.
3. Cut your three glued circles into equal halves then fourths, then eighths. I use a paper cutter to do this because I can’t cut a straight line to save my life.
Use the corner punch on each of your eight “triangles”.
Older children can give this craft a try on their own, using scissors to cut their “triangles”. You can also cut a circle of another color or use one of your biggest circles you’ve already cut out to make a “plate” and use your candy corns to learn about fractions, placing the pieces on the plate for your fractions.
Other Ideas:
Use felt instead of paper and children can put together their own candy corns on a felt “plate”. You’ll probably have to use some very sharp scissors to round the edges of the candy.
My preschoolers wanted to use more cardstock to make their own “candy”. They made pieces of candy using a circle for the candy and two triangles for the “wrapper”. And then decorated them if they wanted. I designed another page with a piece of “candy”.
