With the Chinese New Year celebration coming up soon, what better way to celebrate than with Chinese New Year Activity with yoga pose cards and spinner game?!?!?!?!

Sometimes its hard to come back to school after the holiday break. We get it. Shaking things up a bit with some yoga/movement can help kids (and teachers!) get back into the school groove. This activity is also great for home, especially when the weather isn’t cooperating and you need some indoor movement.

About the Spinners
You can make your own spinner using the arrow provided along with a paperclip, brad and a piece of tape. I also like these spinners from Amazon because they are easy to put together and I can get sets in assorted colors and they work really well.

The yoga pose cards go with the animals of the Chinese zodiac and the spinner games in the resource offer several options. One has the name of the animal, a picture of the animal for visual cues, and then a picture of the pose itself. One option has just the name of the animal and the picture of the animal, while a third option just has the name written to help those children who are learning to read. The last two also help with memory — after going through the poses together, spin the wheel and see if the children can remember the pose!
