The ocean theme for preschoolers is one my all-time fave themes (along with dinosaurs and insects). We use it in yoga, for camp, and other teacher friends have used it in the classroom.

I love designing resources so I couldn’t resist making a few ocean/beach theme products for preschool, kindergarten and first grade. Our colorful posters with factoids and yoga pose cards add a lot to your lesson plan. There’s a guided visualization in the yoga pose cards, which is wonderful for Rest & Relax during a break or at the end of the day.

Focusing on the yoga component for a moment, children not only receive the benefits of yoga (such as improved balance, muscle tone and strength to name a few), but also benefit from the movements of yoga themselves. Movement helps children process, retain and recall information.

I think this theme could also be used for something for Earth Day, animal conservation or the environment. Sea life is so interesting for all of us, but especially for children, an ocean life unit is the perfect way to connect with them on such important topics as the environment.
