New Sprouts Grow It Set by Learning Resources — a Review

I needed a durable and fun gardening set to use in one of my sensory bins when I did my spring lesson plan. I have purchased several Learning Resources products before (like the sea turtles which are amazing!) and they never disappoint. The New Sprouts Grow It set was no exception.

Kenleigh really enjoyed playing in our garden sensory bin last week.
New Sprouts Grow It set was a big hit!

One thing I really like about Learning Resources products is the product durability. They will last forever and when you’re a teacher, anytime you can keep things from year to year is a win. I have probably ordered close to ten (maybe more) of their products and I have never had anything break or become unusable at some point and some of these items I have had for eight plus years.

Hattie and Mary liked playing with the flower set. These pots and “dirt” are SO CUTE!!!!

Moving on to the New Sprouts Grow It set specifically. The set comes with three adorable pots filled with plastic dirt. The dirt remains in the pot, it hasn’t popped out or been pulled out by anyone. There’s a hole in the middle of the fake dirt where you can either “plant” flowers or veggies (carrot and radish). The children LOVE this feature.

We also use scoops, collapsible funnels, bugs (ladybugs here!) in our sensory bins.

The set also comes with a little shovel and watering can. Usually when I have plastic watering cans in sensory bins or out at the mud kitchen on the natural playground, inevitably the cap is popped off the watering can. Not in this garden set! The watering can is one piece, so everything stays in tact.

The one-piece watering can has been great this spring. No need to reattach, consider gluing, throw away. I’ve had about 200 kids play with it and it’s like new.

I like that I can use this set in my sensory bins and it doesn’t make a mess, but gives the kids options on how to play with the items. I like being able to use my brown Kidfetti pellets, green split peas (something sort of nature-ish) and real dirt doesn’t get mixed in and it’s not a bust.

Madeline likes the veggies — and also likes to fill her pot with some split peas before planting!

When I teach I have two days where I have six classes and by the end of day one, even with the ball pits, things can still get kind of messy. No matter what issues you try to anticipate with sensory bins/tables, the children always find someway to tear something up or use it inappropriately. It’s how they learn, I get that, but it’s also nice when you can try to circumvent issues before they come up.

I love this set so much I am considering buying a second set, just so there are more pots, flowers and veggies. The set was very reasonably priced and with its durability, you can’t beat it.

This was not a sponsored post and I wasn’t provided a free product or compensated in any way. I just loved the product and wanted to share.
